I was given a very small decorative pot with bamboo in it with pebbles. Need to replant into a larger pot?
I read to water up to the top of the pebbles, which I did. Just concerned cuz the decorative pot is smaller. The roots seem to grow in a circular pattern in the pot. Help & thanks
First, let’s be clear that your plant is not actually a Bamboo, as Roz believes. It is called Lucky Bamboo, but it is really nothing more than cuttings of Dracaena sanderiana rooted in water and put in a decorative planter with pebbles to support the stems.
As long as the container can hold enough water to keep the roots wet at all times, there is no need to move it to a larger container, although doing so will do no harm.
After a year or two, you may notice that the leaves start to pale due to lack of nutrients. At that point (or sooner, if you prefer) you can move these rooted cuttings into a small pot filled with potting mix and treat it as you would any other potted plant.
