Seriously… does the camera ever lie? Or does a mirror?
When I look in the mirror my face to me looks kind of oval with plump cheeks… but in photos it seems to me like my cheeks are sunken and saggy and my face is kind of rectangular and hard. Either way it is my own perception of what I look like, so why is my perception different with each medium? And which is the more accurate? Just curious really, and yeah it freaks me out a bit.
It’s because the distance at which you view your face makes a difference. You’re very close up in a mirror, which exaggerates the apparent roundness and the size of your nose and cheeks. A photo is taken from a more normal viewing distance.
